Mark Norman is a Managing Director in the FTI Consulting Corporate Finance/Restructuring practice and is based in Dallas. Mr. Norman has more than 15 years of experience in finance and accounting working globally with manufacturing; healthcare; casino and hospitality; energy; commodities; automotive; telecom; industrial services and software technology. He has assisted both companies and creditors in out-of-court restructurings and in formal bankruptcy proceedings.
Mr. Norman has experience serving in a variety of management and advisory roles that include treasury and accounting management; financial restructuring; financial reporting; capital budgeting; performance improvement; merger integration; capital structure review; enterprise valuation; process and controls analysis; negotiations and bankruptcy preparation. He has been involved in the negotiation of cash collateral and debtor-in-possession financing; management and maintenance of banking relationships; coordination of the sale of distressed companies; design and implementation of internal and external reporting processes; development and implementation of cost rationalization programs; operational analysis of cash flow projections; and management of wind-down and liquidating plans.
Selected engagements include leading the bankruptcy preparation and advising management with the development of the plan of reorganization for Reddy Ice and leading the development of a fully integrated financial and manufacturing costing model, negotiating transition services agreements, supply chain optimization, revenue cycle improvement, reallocation of human resources, and advising the executive committee during negotiations for a $400 million automotive parts supplier experiencing a major turnaround. Mr. Norman led the development of a performance and liquidation model for more than $50 billion in asset backed loan portfolios. He recently led the performance improvement initiatives for the Baylor College of Medicine, which included advising on the development of the PMO; developing and implementing financial management and control policies; revenue cycle improvement; business plan development; financial restructuring; human resource optimization and overseeing the reporting on the achievement of the initiatives to stakeholders. In addition, Mr. Norman has extensive gaming and hospitality experience, including a multi-billion dollar international gaming and resort development company, a locals oriented casino and hotel in Las Vegas, and various multi-billion dollar gaming resort development projects.Other notable engagements include Chrysler Financial; Zeledyne; Hawaiian Telcom; i2 Technologies; Ty Cobb Regional Medical Center; a North American energy and power supplier; and a prison management software company.
Prior to joining FTI Consulting, Mr. Norman was the CFO and treasurer of an automotive data processing company in Colorado.
Mr. Norman holds a M.B.A. in finance from the Cox School of Business at Southern Methodist University and a B.S. in accounting and finance from the Leeds School of Business at the University of Colorado, Boulder. He is a certified insolvency and restructuring advisor, a certified public account, a certified turnaround professional designate and a chartered financial analyst. Mr. Norman is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, the Association of Insolvency & Restructuring Advisors, the Chartered Financial Analyst Institute, the Colorado Society of Certified Public Accountants, the Texas Society of Certified Public Accountants and the Turnaround Management Association.
