Ozgur (Oz) Vural is a Managing Director at FTI Consulting and is based in New York. He is a member of the Data & Analytics practice in the Forensic & Litigation Consulting segment. Oz has more than 20 years of experience in forensic data analytics, counter-terrorism financing, BSA/AML compliance, know your ‘X’ (customer, trader, employee), anti-bribery & anti-corruption, and other related fraud management and financial crime compliance issues.
Prior to joining FTI Consulting, Oz was the global head of fraud management and financial crime compliance analytics practice at Capgemini. His portfolio of clients included 8 of the 10 global banks and diversified financial institutions. Oz built new advanced services and capabilities to help clients upgrade and modernize their risk, fraud and financial crime compliance systems while reducing operational costs with automation, data analytics and machine learning driven applications. Additionally, Oz worked on blockchain and cryptocurrency-centric initiatives. For example, he formed an alliance with an AI/machine learning-enabled software vendor to build a KYC platform that was designed to integrate with a niche payment platform that allows customers to make purchases with cryptocurrencies via stored value card with real-time pricing and settlement capabilities.
Before joining Capgemini, Oz was one of the forensic data analytics & science executives leading innovation at EY’s Forensic and Integrity Services in building a cloud-based analytics ecosystem with next-generation data science applications. During his role at EY, Oz served as a lead product champion for one of EY’s most significant forensic data analytics new technology investments.
In addition to his experience in the private sector, Oz has also spent a significant part of his career assisting U.S. Federal Government clients, including the U.S. Department of Defense (DoD) and other agencies within the Intelligence Community. For these clients, he has worked on issues related to counter-terrorism, counter-terrorism financing, information operations, social networking analysis and open source intelligence collection and analysis. ConStrat, the analytics consultancy firm that Oz helped build and grow, was the first vendor that successfully custom built a next-generation social networking analytics platform for U.S. Central Command (USCENTCOM), which became a flagship platform at DoD while also benefiting other government agencies such as the Federal Bureau of Investigation. In 2011 and 2012, ConStrat was named one of Inc. Magazine’s Top 20 Government Services Company.
