Marc Walby is a Senior Managing Director in the Financial Services practice of FTI Consulting and leads FTI Consulting’s Financial Institutions Risk Management practice. Mr. Walby has more than 25 years of international industry experience driving organizational, operational and technological transformation in areas such as Risk Management, Finance, Compliance, Legal, Anti Money Laundering, Regulation, Governance and Audit.
Prior to joining FTI Consulting, Mr. Walby served as Managing Director and Chief Operating Officer for Deutsche Bank’s Risk Management Division in the Americas. In his role as Chief Operating Officer, he was responsible for driving the growth and transformation of the Bank’s Risk organization to meet post financial crisis regulatory expectations and support the creation of DB’s U.S. Holding Company.
Mr. Walby oversaw all organizational, operational and programmatic activities and was responsible for defining and implementing the Division’s strategic objectives and executing strategic programs to strengthen and streamline operations and technology. He led the redesign of the Americas operating model and established the regional enterprise risk management platform, including implementation of governance bodies, risk strategy and appetite statements, policies, frameworks, management reporting and analytics. He oversaw implementation of the Bank’s U.S. risk and capital regulatory reporting framework (U.S. Basel III) and risk’s capital planning and stress testing (CCAR) requirements. In addition, he oversaw Risk’s regulatory relationships and remediation of regulatory matters, including advising on proposed regulations.
During this time Marc also served for a period as Interim Americas Chief Risk Officer where he led the division and represented Risk Management on the Bank’s senior governance bodies and at various regulatory and external industry forums.
Marc joined Deutsche Bank from KPMG where he spent five years as a Partner in the Financial Services Advisory practice, responsible for leading client engagements in risk management, treasury, Sarbanes-Oxley, financial reporting, business process reengineering, internal control assessments and remediation, and internal audit. His client base centered on global investment and commercial banks, broker dealers, property casualty insurance companies, investment managers and private equity firms across the US, Europe and Asia.
Mr. Walby began his career as a Financial Services auditor with KPMG where he led and supported the audits of various clients in the U.K., Europe and Latin America, including large, complex multinational financial institutions, broker dealers, pension funds, and treasury functions of multinational industrial corporations.
Mr. Walby holds a B.Sc. Degree from the University of Warwick, U.K. He is an ACA, a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales and serves as a Board Member for Reading is Fundamental and the St. George’s Society of New York.
