Stuart Amor is a Managing Director at FTI Consulting. He is a member of the Economic and Financial Consulting Practice and based in the London office. Stuart acts as a valuation expert primarily on energy matters. Before joining FTI Consulting, he was an oil and gas equity analyst at Credit Suisse, ING and RFC Ambrian.
Stuart has over 20 years’ experience of valuing oil and gas companies. He has a deep understanding of the oil and gas industry, the various types of companies within it, and the key drivers of their profitability.
Stuart has been engaged to prepare a report and act as an expert witness on the valuation of an oil and gas construction company at its initial public offering (IPO). He has also worked on various types of oil and gas disputes at FTI Consulting. These have included the valuation of an interest in a Middle Eastern oil licence that was in dispute, a post-acquisition warranty and pre-effective date indemnity claim involving a North Sea oil company, and a fair value determination of the minority shares of a Russian oil field service company that were squeezed out in a management buyout.
As an investment analyst, Stuart researched and valued European integrated majors (BP and Shell), Russian oil & gas companies (e.g. Gazprom, Rosneft and LUKOIL) and African mid-cap and junior exploration & production companies (including Tullow Oil, Seplat Petroleum Development Company, Africa Oil Corp, Ophir, FAR Ltd, Eland Oil & Gas and Chariot Oil & Gas).
Stuart has marketed his research to leading institutional investors in the UK, Europe, North America and Asia. While at Credit Suisse he was the top ranked analyst in the Reuters fund manager survey of EMEA oil and gas analysts for two years in a row.
Stuart has extensive capital raising experience. He was the sole lead analyst on Lukoil’s US$340 million mandatory convertible bond placing - essentially Lukoil’s IPO. He was also Credit Suisse’s investment analyst on both Gazprom’s and Ramco’s IPOs. As Head of Equity Research at ING, he oversaw the deal-related equity research and valuation of over twenty IPOs in various sectors, including upstream oil and gas, oil field services, power generation, metals and mining, real estate, financial services, media, retail, cement and agriculture.
Stuart has written articles for oil and gas publications and his research has been quoted by leading media outlets. He frequently speaks at oil and gas conferences.
