Mark S. Halpern is a Managing Director in the FTI Real Estate Solutions practice and is based in New York. Mr. Halpern is part of the firm’s Private Client Advisory group and has more than 27 years of federal and state tax experience. He has advised owners of closely held businesses, family offices, and high net worth individuals in minimizing their tax liabilities while developing strategies to achieve their business and personal objectives.
Prior to joining FTI Consulting, Mr. Halpern was Tax Director at J.H. Cohn in New York where he was responsible for a wide range of federal, state and international tax issues, including the review of individual, partnership, corporate, fiduciary, foundation, and pension tax returns. Prior to that he was Director of Taxation at Lazar Levine & Felix where he was responsible for, among other things, reviewing tax returns and representing clients under federal and state audits; and Tax Director of Berdon, LLP. Mr. Halpern has also held management positions at Deloitte, Haskins & Sells and U.S. Trust Company of N.Y.
Mr. Halpern is a member of the Individual Tax Committee of the New York State Society of Certified Public Accountants, American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, New York State Bar Association and American Bar Association. He has a BS in accounting from the State University of New York at Buffalo and is a Certified Public Accountant in New York. He also received a Juris Doctorate from New York Law School and is a member of the New York Bar.
