Welcome to The Verdict, FTI Consulting’s latest report into how UK law firms are engaging on social media. Building on our 2016 research, we have again used our proprietary model to analyse the social media performance of the UK’s Top 30 firms.

This year’s report shows that law firms are continuing to make strides in developing their social media presence, and we highlight the firms that are setting the pace. Our analysis ranked each firm's social media engagement in three categories: Presence, Impact and Quality. The scores for each category were combined to generate our top 15 leaderboard with Baker McKenzie once again topping the list. This year's leaderboard also features five new firms, with two of the firms, Norton Rose Fulbright and Slater and Gordon, shooting up the rankings directly into the top five.

However, our research also highlights a widening gap between the firms who are reaping the rewards of effective social media engagement, and those who have more to do to keep up with the pace of change. Underlining the areas for improvement, our report features our top tips for both paid promotion and social video, as well as insights from interviews with digital communications and public relations leads at Dentons, Baker McKenzie and Eversheds Sutherland.
