FTI Consulting Strengthens its Economic and Financial Consulting Practice with the Appointment of Richard Hooper CBE
London, 18 May 2016 – FTI Consulting, Inc. (NYSE: FCN), the global business advisory firm dedicated to helping organisations protect and enhance their enterprise value, today announced the appointment of Richard Hooper CBE as Senior Advisor in the Economic and Financial Consulting practice. Mr. Hooper will work with FTI Consulting’s regulatory experts in London, advising primarily on telecoms and postal matters.
Mr. Hooper has devoted his working life to the converging worlds of media, telecommunications and technology. He has had a long and distinguished career in government and industry and brings with him extensive experience in business, policy and regulation in the British and international media and telecommunications sectors. He currently serves as Senior Independent Director of VocaLink, which builds and operates the national interbank payments infrastructure (BACS, Faster Payments and the Link network). He is also the Chair of the Broadband Stakeholder Group and Honorary President of the Copyright Hub Foundation.
Mr. Hooper has been instrumental in the development of a number of key policies in the post and telecoms sector in the UK and overseas. In the UK, he authored the 2008 “Hooper Report,” which led to the successful privatisation of the Royal Mail and he has recently been reviewing for the Australian Government the work and future direction of the Australian Communications and Media Authority.
From 2000 to 2003, Mr. Hooper served as the Chairman of the Radio Authority, from 2002 to 2005 he was the founding Deputy Chairman of Ofcom, and from 2005 to 2007 he was Chairman of the international publishing and events company Informa plc. He began his career as a radio and TV producer in the BBC, and was a founder of the Open University. In the 1980s he ran the Value Added Services Division of BT and also the pan-European satellite TV channel Superchannel.
