Corporate Responsibility

At FTI Consulting, we are committed to supporting the communities in which we work, to building innovative and mutually beneficial partnerships with charitable organisations, and to managing our environmental impact.

Our CSR activities revolve around core themes of creativity, enterprise and sustainability with a key focus on developing people, both inside and outside our organisation. We want to be able to ensure that the core skills of employees, which are individual to our company, are passed on to those organisations and young people we help.

In the EMEA region, our Corporate Social Responsibility activities have five main strands:

  • Charity of the year fundraising,
  • employee volunteering,
  • Corporate sponsorship
  • Pro-bono projects.

Charity of the year
FTI Consulting’s UK charity partner for 2016, as voted for by its employees, is Action Breaks Silence. Action Breaks Silence aims to create a world where women and girls can live their lives free from the fear of sexual and gender-based violence. FTI Consulting is going to holding fundraising events throughout the year to help raise money for workshops to be carried out in India, South Africa and the UK that aim to empower, educate and promote the safety and security of women and children in countries across the world where the risk of sexual and gender-based violence is high.

Other charitable giving
FTI operates a Give As You Earn scheme that enables all UK staff to make a regular pre-tax commitment to charity through the monthly payroll; a very simple way of maximising the value and impact of our donations to designated charities.

Employee volunteering
FTI Consulting is proud have partnered with the Citizenship Foundation in the UK to develop an innovative economic and financial literacy educational programme aimed at young people, called Boom, Bust and Crunch.

The programme has been devised to increase understanding of the causes, events and implications the global financial crisis of 2008, and FTI Consulting’s professionals across all five practice areas were responsible for helping to develop content and produce the materials.

Since 2013, the programme has reached more than 350 students, and around 20% of our employees take part in the scheme. We are proud that Boom, Bust and Crunch has received exclusively positive feedback from both students and our employees, and in 2015 the programme was nominated for a national CSR award.

Corporate Sponsorship
FTI Consulting in the UK is proud to be a partner of the National Portrait Gallery and the Royal Academy of Arts. Through these partnerships, the firm is committed to helping increase accessibility to the arts and to supporting community outreach programmes delivered by each of the organisations.

We also work to create mutually beneficial relationships between the charitable organisations we support and our arts partners.

Pro-bono projects
Our UK business segments undertake pro-bono work for a variety of organisations, and in recent years we have worked with MEAM (Making Every Adult Matter) and also the Royal Institution on specific issues that require the expertise and experience of our people.

Our Policies:

The Environment:
Our Facilities Management team work with our staff and suppliers across the organisation to continually review, manage and improve our processes to minimise our impact on the environment and increase efficiency. At some point we would hope to achieve environmental and carbon reduction standards including ISO 9001 quality, IS0 14001 environmental and OSAS 18001 Health and Safety.

During the move of our London offices in 2014 to our 200 Aldersgate offices, our Facilities team procured furniture proven to come from an accredited sustainable source, as well as installing lighting with PIRs and top of the range Air Conditioning systems to further reduce our environmental impact. Continuing the Firm’s progress towards becoming eco-friendly, we also encourage staff to recycle using shared recycling banks across the floors.

To keep the sustainability cycle going, our Facilities team have also started buying paper from the Woodland Trust – for every tonne of paper we use, we give Woodland Trust back £8.50 and they use that money each year to plant trees in Hertfordshire.

Increasing the awareness and involvement of our staff in the reduction of our carbon footprint and environmental impact is one of our highest priorities and FTI Consulting will be continually striving to become more energy efficient throughout the year to come.

Employee Health and Safety
FTI Consulting is committed to providing a safe and healthy working environment for its employees and others who may be affected by its work activities. FTI Consulting recognises its statutory obligations to maintain standards of safety for all its employees in every aspect of their work in relation to buildings, plant, equipment and workplaces, and for continually ensuring that these obligations are fulfilled. FTI Consulting also acknowledges its obligations to members of the public, contractors and visitors to all of our premises and locations and will ensure that measures, where necessary, will be taken to maintain their Health and Safety.
